Frequently Asked Questions

How do you conduct the classes?

I conduct the classes in-person at my home-office in Karapakkam, Chennai. Online classes are conducted using platforms such as Skype, Google Hangouts, Zoom, etc.

Do you teach students outside Chennai as well?

Yes, many of my students are from different locations like Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, etc. in India and USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Nigeria, etc. abroad.

How do you conduct online classes? Are they as effective as direct, in-person classes?

Firstly, the aforementioned platforms that I use to conduct online classes, have the feature of screen-sharing. Using this feature, I can easily share my computer’s screen with you and teach you concepts just as I would do in a classroom using a notebook and a pen. The only difference is that the interface is digital. You can see me as well and ask me your doubts just as you would do in a classroom.

To answer the second question, yes, an online class is just as effective as a direct, in-person class. Moreover, there are many benefits of online classes that students do not get in an in-person class. First and foremost, the biggest advantage of online classes is that you can record the classes and use them later on for reference. This is a huge advantage and will help you immensely while revising at home. Secondly, if you take online classes, you save valuable time by avoiding travelling to class. This is a very significant benefit, especially for students living in big cities who may end up spending more than a couple of hours every day travelling between coaching classes and home.

Do you take individual classes or do you take classes in groups?

All the classes are either one-to-one or conducted in small groups of upto 4 students. I make small groups to ensure that all the students get personalized attention and are able to clear their exam in the first attempt.

What is the duration of the course and the frequency of the classes?

I take classes 2-3 times a week depending on the course and the aptitude of the student and the duration of each class is 2 hours. The GMAT, GRE and SAT courses, which are aptitude exams testing mathematical and verbal ability, last for 3 months. On the other hand, the IELTS, TOEFL and PTE courses, which test English aptitude, last for 1 month.

Do you conduct the classes yourself or do you have a panel of trainers?

I conduct all the classes myself and recommend customized study plans for all my students. After enrolling, you will be under my direct tutelage.

What is your teaching methodology?

There is a famous adage, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” I strongly believe in this and in line with this philosophy, I will not provide you direct answers in class. In other words, instead of giving you the fish directly, I will teach you how to fish!

We will cover all the concepts right from the basics and work on questions of easy, moderate and high difficulty levels in the class. Moreover, instead of spoon-feeding you, I will probe you to think for yourself using leading questions and I will encourage you to develop your own thinking process in order to arrive at solutions. This is because the exams are dynamic and they will test your critical thinking abilities. In such scenarios, a rigid formula-based or rote-learning approach will not work.

Furthermore, mock-tests will be an integral part of your preparation and I will require you to take them on a regular basis according to the study schedule. I will even make you take a diagnostic mock-test before we start classes!

Do I need to buy any books or material for the classes?

You may have to purchase an official guide and a few mock tests that are readily available in the market at reasonable prices. Other than that, you do not need to buy any material for learning concepts in the class and I will provide you with my own preparation PDFs, which I have prepared after taking the latest exam patterns and question-types into consideration.

How do I book the exam?

You can book the exam yourself at home or I can guide you in booking the exam. You can pay the exam booking fee directly to the respective organizations online using your credit card, debit card or net banking. I would advise you to book the exam at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure availability of dates as these examinations work on a first-come, first-served basis.

What is the fee structure for the classes?

You can contact me to enquire about the fee structure here.

How are you different from other trainers and what added benefit do I get?

A teacher is an enabler and he should have the ability as well as the resolve to help you achieve the required score in the exam. To this end, the results of my students and my credentials give me the confidence to say that I have both.

My classes are structured in a way to give primary focus to conceptual clarity and exam strategies. Using my vast experience in aptitude training, I will help you in identifying your weak areas and I will guide you in strengthening them. My aim is to keep you focused on the exam preparation and ensure that you clear the exam in the first attempt, thereby saving valuable time, money and effort.

How do I pay the fee?

I will share my bank account details with you when you enrol for the classes and you can transfer the fee to the account.
